Reiki is a gentle yet powerful healing modality that balances life energies and brings health and well-being to the recipient.
Reiki promotes relaxation and stress reduction, triggers the body’s natural healing abilities, and improves and maintains health.
The word “Reiki” is derived from two Japanese words: rei (universal) and ki (life energy): when we are healthy and balanced, this energy flows freely through energy channels, known as “meridians”, and energy centres, known as “chakras”. However, emotional or physical stress, traumas or negative thought patterns can hamper the free flow of our life energy, often resulting in physical symptoms when such blockages are prolonged over time.
Hindu and Buddhist traditions have independently identified 7 chakras or energy centres, each corresponding to specific physical organs and related to specific aspect of consciousness: by clearing blockages at the level of the chakras, the body is restored to its optimal energetic state.
What happens during a Reiki session?
In a traditional Reiki session, the client lies down or sits fully clothed. The practitioner’s hands are placed lightly on or just above the client’s body, palms down, using a series of positions.
A Reiki treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit, creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and well being.
